We have missed our guests tremendously and not being able to open May 1st was a huge loss for us on so many levels. Not being able to take part in the Kiwanis Walleye World Fishing Derby for the second year in a row not only prevented us from hosting our guests but also from participating in a popular local event which has always been a major fundraiser to support youth activities and community projects throughout the Quinte region. With the extended provincial lockdown and the inability to offer short-term rentals to our guests, we have kept our staff on board and filled our time working hard to complete some much needed renovations around the park. We are super excited to share and show all the wonderful things we have accomplished in the months of April, May & beginning of June. Several of the cottages, including #1, #2, #3, #5, Muskie Mansion & Pickerel Palace all got new composite decking and most got new railings installed and they look fantastic! The 3 motel units all got new paint on the deck, dividers and the patio furniture. We painted cottage chairs, the fishing cleaning station deck, part of the boat launch & Cottage #10’s bathroom! We were very happy to also be able to build a brand new deck overlooking the water in front of the community firepit. It has glass railings with Merland Park logo etched on some of the panels. It lights up at night and is absolutely beautiful. We are so pleased with the results and we hope our guests will be too. We did a tremendous amount of landscaping and clean up work around the property and the guys laid stone all around the firepit. We know there is always more to do and we have more plans for the future including a new roof on Laker Lodge. In the meantime, we are counting down the days until we can see our guests again and look forward to hearing their feedback and seeing their smiling faces as they enjoy the park as much as we do. Until then, stay safe.
